British Teenager Becomes 14th Woman to Die From Dangerous Abortion Drug
“She (Manon Jones) was scared and I tried to reassure her. It was a very emotional experience for us both to witness her pass her baby and my grandchild into the bedpan," she said of the abortion experience.
Jones' mother said her daughter went to the hospital once and a scan showed no signs of problems, so she decided to head on a trip with friends.
“On June 19 I reluctantly packed her suitcase and took her to the train station. I was very worried about her. She said she was cold again and a bit light headed," Mrs. Jones said, according to the Welsh newspapers.
“We both held on to each other and the train doors were closing on our hands as I stood on the platform as the train was leaving. It was the last time I saw her alive," she added.
Mrs. Jones said her daughter returned from the trip three days later when her condition worsened. Once she arrived at the hospital, her daughter had already been sent to the intensive care unit after seizures and cardiac arrest.
“I stayed with her at the bedside all day and all night and gradually realized that Manon had already left us and was not likely to recover," she concluded.
The mifepristone abortion was done at six weeks into Jones' pregnancy.Eight women in the United States have died from the mifepristone abortion drug, one in Canada, now three in the UK, one in Sweden, and one in France.

Pygmy goat boards a TriMet bus (Portland, Or)
June 3, 2008
At approximately 9:45 p.m. last night, an unattended pygmy goat walked on a Line 14- Hawthorne bus. The bus was on layover at SE 94th and Foster and the operator was standing outside her bus with the doors open. The operator was concerned because of the freeway nearby and busy street traffic, and closed the bus doors. She immediately called dispatch and TriMet’s dispatch called 911. A Portland Police Officer responded and transported the goat. The 35-pound goat was wearing a nylon collar.

Advocates of 'continental integration' on defensive
Author and investigative journalist Dr. Jerome Corsi, who attended the recent "North American Leaders Summit" in New Orleans, says public outcry over the controversial issue of continental integration has put supporters of such an idea on the defensive.
Corsi says the recent meeting was, in reality, the fourth annual summit of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). But the name was changed to the North American Leaders Summit, he alleges, because the public has become all too aware of the agenda of the SPP.
The journalist says President Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and Mexican President Felipe Calderon even avoided the term during their summit. "The words Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America have become kind of radioactive. I think with the criticism of North American integration and now people being aware that it's happening, you couldn't see the words 'SPP' or 'Security and Prosperity Partnership' anywhere in evidence at the meeting," Corsi points out.
According to Corsi, the American people do not want the SPP to create what amounts to a North American version of the European Union. "You know this globalism initiative, which is being pushed forward in fast gear, is now meeting increasing resistance from the people of the United States," he argues. "And I think this meeting in New Orleans reflected that the three leaders are on the defensive now and [that] people are becoming more aware of their integration plans and are saying no to it."

Abstinence programs reaffirmed through research
Proponents of comprehensive sex education on Capitol Hill are seeking to eliminate the funding for both the Community Based Abstinence Program and the Title V abstinence state grant program. But researchers Christine Kim and Robert Rector of The Heritage Foundation have unveiled a comprehensive review of 21 prior studies of the effectiveness of abstinence and virginity pledge programs. They found that 16 of the 21 studies reported positive findings.

Amazon.com the Walmart of the Book World
In a letter issued to the company's authors, PublishAmerica's management said, "Not surprisingly, PublishAmerica refuses to be swayed by anyone's strong-arming tactics, big name or otherwise, especially given the fact that budging would mean an additional expense on the publisher's side of tens of thousands of dollars, on top of the unacceptable royalty losses for our authors. PublishAmerica never charges its authors as much as a single penny, ever. We are not going to change this winning policy under the threat of anyone's intimidation, nor are we willing to involuntarily accept any royalty cuts on behalf of our authors."

The current mortgage loan bill S. 2636, lenders say it would ultimately hurt homeowners by raising loan costs for all
http://www.npr.org:80/templates/story/story.php?storyId=54917288
As the Cato Institute's Alan Reynolds points out, foreclosures have not been limited to low-income families with sub-prime adjustable-rate mortgages. Reynolds, citing the Mortgage Bankers Association, notes that "prime mortgages (mostly fixed-rate) accounted for 45 percent of all foreclosures in the third quarter of last year, while sub-prime ARMs accounted for 43 percent."http://www.urbancure.org/article.asp?idCategory=3&idsub=1&id=3089&t=Housing+market+doesn%27t+need+more+government
Alan Reynolds says some useful points that usually don’t appear in the crisis-obsessed media. Here are what Alan believes are the rough stylized facts:
Most foreclosures are prime, not subprime. Half of subprime mortgages are fixed, not ARMs.
